Machining: Utilize equipment such as CNC machining centers, electric discharge machining machines, and wire electrical discharge machining machines to machine the die parts. The CNC machining center can precisely mill the shapes of the cavity and core, ensuring dimensional accuracy and surface roughness. For some complex shapes, such as those with undercuts and special-shaped holes, an electric discharge machining machine can be used for machining. The wire electrical discharge machining machine is used to machine the inserts, electrodes, and other parts of the die.
Heat Treatment: Carry out heat treatment on the machined die parts to improve their hardness, strength, and wear resistance. Common heat treatment processes include quenching and tempering. Through appropriate heat treatment, the performance of the die parts can reach the best state, and the service life of the die can be extended.
Surface Treatment: In order to improve the demolding performance and corrosion resistance of the die, the surface of the die needs to be treated. Common surface treatment methods include nitriding, hard chromium plating, etc. Nitriding treatment can form a nitrided layer with high hardness and good wear resistance on the surface of the die; hard chromium plating can make the surface of the die smoother, which is beneficial for the demolding of plastic products.
Part Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the machined die parts to remove impurities such as oil stains and iron filings on the surface, ensuring that the parts are not contaminated during the assembly process.
Assembly: Assemble the die parts one by one according to the design requirements. First, install the mold base, and then install components such as the cavity, core, slider, and ejector pins. During the assembly process, ensure that the installation positions of all components are accurate and the fit clearance is reasonable. For example, the fit clearance between the ejector pin and the ejector pin hole should be appropriate. It should not be too large to cause the plastic melt to flash, nor too small to affect the movement of the ejector pin.
Debugging: After the die is assembled, conduct debugging. Install the die on the injection molding machine and inject the plastic melt into the die through the injection molding machine, and observe the molding situation of the plastic products. Check whether there are defects such as flash, short shots, and air bubbles in the plastic products, and adjust the die according to the debugging results. For example, adjust the injection molding process parameters, including temperature, pressure, and speed, or modify the local structure of the die, such as grinding the parting surface and adjusting the gate size, until qualified plastic products are produced.
